Valašské Meziříčí is a town in the Vsetín district in the Zlín Region, 15 km north of Vsetín at the confluence of the Rožnovská and Vsetínská Bečva rivers. Its location makes it the gateway to the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains and an important transport hub. Sometimes Valašské Meziříčí is also called Wallachian Athens or Valmez for short. The historic centre of the town was declared a town conservation area in 1992. Here you can visit, for example, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Kinsky Castle, the Žerotín Castle and many other monuments.
